Policy Options & Strategies for Agriculture & Climate Change
Agriculture is one of the biggest contributors to climate change, but it also stands to be one of the most effected production systems. A growing global human population will need more mouths to feed, but current climate productions show a future with fewer productive agricultural systems. Policy makers can help producers adapt and mitigate climate change by investing in research, incentivizing climate-smart activities, lowering barriers to information sharing and trade, increasing funding for extension services, and adjusting loan and insurance programs to account for greater uncertainty.
